posted on by Karen Ressler
Bandai Namco Holdings announced on Wednesday that Sunrise president Yasuo Miyakawa (pictured right) will assume the role of president of Bandai Namco Entertainment on April 1. The company's current president Satoshi Ōshita is retiring and taking on an adviser role with Bandai Namco Holdings.
Miyakawa has been working with Bandai since 1981. In addition to serving as president of Bandai Namco's animation production company Sunrise, he was also the president of its children- and family-focused spinoff division Bandai Namco Pictures.
Sunrise's senior managing director Makoto Asanuma will take Miyakawa's place as president of Sunrise. Asanuma joined Bandai Networks in 2000. He has been senior managing director of Sunrise since April 2018.
Bandai Namco Holdings restructured its subsidiary companies last year. Video game developer Bandai Namco Entertainment is the main arm of the conglomerate's "network entertainment" divisions, while animation production company Sunrise is the main arm of the conglomerate's "IP creation" divisions.
