The official website of the upcoming new Captain Tsubasa anime revealed on Saturday that the Johnny's West idol group will perform the anime's opening theme song "Start Dash!"
The new anime will premiere in April on TV Tokyo and other stations. Viz Media has licensed the anime. The license includes digital streaming, electronic sell-through (EST), home video, and merchandise rights for North America and Latin America.
Toshiyuki Kato (JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Diamond Is Unbreakable, Full Moon o Sagashite) is directing the anime at the studio david production. Atsuhiro Tomioka (Inazuma Eleven, Pokémon XY) is in charge of the series scripts, and Hajime Watanabe (Ginga e Kickoff!!, School Rumble) is serving as character designer and chief animation director. Hayato Matsuo (Hellsing Ultimate, JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, The World God Only Knows) is composing the music, and Yoshikazu Iwanami is directing the sound.
The new anime has the following cast:
Kenichi Suzumura as Genzō Wakabayashi, a genius goalkeeper
Ayaka Fukuhara as Tarō Misaki, the "golden partner"

Katsuyuki Konishi as Roberto Hongō, the legendary No. 10 on Brazil's team
The anime will retell the story of Yōichi Takahashi's 1981-1988 Captain Tsubasa manga from the beginning. The original soccer manga revolves around 11-year old Tsubasa Ōzora, a boy who loves soccer and is recognized by his coach Roberto due to his skill of the sport. Tsubasa goes with his coach to Brazil in order to train for the World Cup.
