Shinji Hashimoto Discusses Possibility of Final Fantasy XVI, Final Fantasy X-3 Games

Final Fantasy brand manager Shinji Hashimoto discussed the possibility of a Final Fantasy XVI game, as well as a potential Final Fantasy X-3 sequel game during the Lucca Comics & Games 2016 event in Italy on November 1.
On the possibility of a new numbered Final Fantasy XVI game, Hashimoto said that Square Enix has not made anything for the game yet, but suggested that Final Fantasy XV's modern-styled setting does not mean that the new game will also have a modern aesthetic. Nothing is set in stone for the game yet, including the art style and the battle system.
On the possibility of Final Fantasy X-3 sequel to the Final Fantasy X series, Hashimoto acknowledged that the Final Fantasy X -Will- audio drama included in the Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster has a story set after Final Fantasy X-2. However, with director/character designer Tetsuya Nomura and producer/director Yoshinori Kitase working on both Final Fantasy VII Remake, and Kingdom Hearts III, Hashimoto said they cannot work on a possible sequel game at the same time. He added that Square Enix will focus on titles it has already announced.
