Final Fantasy Type-0's Ace Joins Dissidia Final Fantasy Arcade Game

New "Conflict of the Gods" event also announced

Square Enix announced on Saturday at the "Dissidia Summer Festival" event in Chiba that the Final Fantasy Type-0 character Ace will join the Dissidia Final Fantasy arcade game as a playable character. His Type will be Shoot.

Square Enix also announced the "Conflict of the Gods" update, which will feature players aligning with either the god Spiritus (pictured left below, voiced by actor Issei Takahashi) or the goddess Materia (pictured right below, voiced by singer Erina Mano).

During the event, all players fight for their respective side in both battles and missions to gain victory over the world, and the side with more points at the end of the event will win. The event is planned to take place over the course of two weeks once a month, and will launch in September or later.

The arcade game features a 3 vs. 3 battle system. The game also includes a summons gauge that players can use to summon Ifrit and other popular Final Fantasy summons when the gauge is full. Koei Tecmo Games' Team Ninja (Dead or Alive series) developed the game, which uses technology from a PlayStation 4 core system instead of a dedicated arcade circuit board.

The game launched in Japanese arcades in November 2015, and previous updates this year added Final Fantasy's Garland and Final Fantasy VI antagonist Kefka Palazzo as playable characters.

Square Enix released Dissidia Final Fantasy, a PlayStation Portable fighting game featuring Final Fantasy heroes and villains, in 2008 in Japan, and in 2009 in other parts of the world. The company then released the Dissidia 012 Final Fantasy sequel in 2011 for the PSP with new characters, stages, and story.

Square Enix announced the Dissidia Final Fantasy Opera Omnia game for release on smartphones this year.
