The staff of the upcoming 30-minute anime programming block "Ultra Super Anime Time" announced at AnimeJapan 2015 last month that the block will premiere the Kagewani series of shorts in October. Tomoya Takashima (Yamishibai: Japanese Ghost Stories) created the series and is directing it at the studio Tomovies.
The "new form of panic suspense animation" begins when mysterious monsters suddenly appear in the present day and attack humans. The scientist Sōsuke Banba pursues the truth with the keyword "Kagewani" (literally, shadow crocodile).
Hiromu Kumamoto (Yamishibai: Japanese Ghost Stories) is writing the scripts. Ami Fujikawa and Ryōma Hori are designing the characters, and Shunsaku Matsurida is designing the monsters. Tsutomu Nagae is the executive producer, and Kentarō Iwakiri is producing.
The other anime that will run during the "Ultra Super Anime Time" programming block include the second season of Miss Monochrome, the Wooser no Sono Higurashi Mugen-hen anime, the Wakaba Girl anime, and an unnamed new project from Hiroyuki Imaishi (Kill la Kill) and Studio Trigger.
