Message Hidden in Mini Famicom Urges Users to Not 'Break Everything'
posted on by Lynzee Loveridge
Nintendo's Mini Famicom console shipped in Japan in November with 30 fan-favorite games and none of the worries about unsaved progress. However, deep within the console's emulator code, one user discovered a hidden message. Twitter user Hiromitsu was cracking the emulator to create a ROM and found a message in English.
It reads:
This is the hanafuda captain speaking. Launching emulation in 3..2..1. Many efforts, tears, and countless hours have been put into this jewel. So, please keep this place tidied up and don't break everything! Cheers, the hanafuda captain.
The "hanafuda captain" is a reference to Nintendo's origin as a playing card company.
Nintendo unveiled a mini version of the 8-Bit Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) in July for release and released it in North America and Europe on November 11. The NES Classic Edition includes many of the same games as the Nintendo Classic Mini Family Computer. Players haven't discovered any hidden messages in the NES Classic yet.
