Spirited Away's No-Face Finds New Calling as Shamisen Player
posted on by Lynzee Loveridge
No-Face from the Academy Award-winning Studio Ghibli film Spirited Away has skill to enter a lot of careers. Competitive eating or espionage, for instance. Street performing on a tsugaru-jamisen for passersby was pretty low on the expected outcomes for the spirit.
No-Face first appeared with his tsugaru-jamisen about a year ago and has since been spotted multiple times around Hachinohe in Aomori Prefecture. Twitter user @zunzun_2525 recorded one of its most recent performances on Saturday in the city's bar and restaurant district.

This No-Face likes to hang around locales with a prominent Japanese aesthetic, like the food stalls from the film. The spirit is more commonly found when the weather is dry on weekends and holidays.
