Kantai Collection Comiket Circles Edge Ahead of Touhou Project Again
posted on by Lynzee Loveridge
A fan count from this summer's Comiket 88 catalog is showing that Kantai Collection again leads in dōjin circle numbers. A total of 1,846 circles revolving around the moe-character card battle game beat out the 1,496 circles dedicated to the Touhou Project series.
This marks the second time in a row for Kantai Collection. The franchise had 1,840 circles versus Touhou Project 1,744 at Winter Comiket in January. Touhou Project was firmly ahead just a year ago with 1,910 circles compared to Kantai Collection's 1,498 at last year's Summer Comiket. Of course, this was before diomedéa's anime adaptation premiered in January.
There isn't a count yet on DanMachi centered circles for the event. A ton of books dedicated to Hestia were on sale at the Comic1 event at Tokyo Big Sight in May, but another dōjin event dedicated to the event had a disappointingly small turn out.
Comiket 88 will take over Tokyo Big Sight on August 14-16.
