Hatsune Miku Makes Cameo in Shonen Jump's Kochikame Manga

The virtual idol Hatsune Miku and other related Vocaloid characters make a extended appearance in the latest chapter of Osamu Akimoto's Kochira Katsushika-ku Kamearikouen-mae Hashutsujo (Kochikame) manga, with the background and details of the Vocaloid phenomenon explained in-depth over a number of pages. The chapter was serialized in the June 4 issue of Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump magazine. The issue also printed a full-page illustration of the manga's Reiko Akimoto character dressed similarly to a Vocaloid character.
The official Pia Pro blog operated by Crypton Future Media, creators of Hatsune Miku, commented on the chapter of the manga, expressing surprise and happiness at its level of detail. The post also published an image of a signed illustration of Hatsune Miku posing with the Kochikame cast drawn by Akimoto, as well as a comment made by Akimoto in the magazine earlier this year stating that he went to a live Hatsune Miku concert this year.
Akimoto's long-running Kochikame series has been adapted into live-action films, a television drama, and multiple anime titles, and recently reached its 1,750th chapter in print.
