Kyoto-based firm Future Venture Capital announced on Wednesday that it has acquired a 99.6% stake in All Nippon Entertainment Works (ANEW) from Innovation Network Corporation of Japan (INCJ). Future Venture Capital stated that it plans to invest in ANEW's production of remakes of Japanese content for the global market. The transfer is planned for June 8.
ANEW was established in October 2011 with a 6 billion yen (about US$80 million) investment from INCJ. The company is a joint venture between Japanese industry members and Hollywood partners to remake Japanese anime and films for the global market.
Since its founding, ANEW has announced Hollywood adaptations of Gaiking, Soul Reviver, 6000 - Rokusen, and Tiger & Bunny, along with several Japanese live-action films. The Hollywood Tiger & Bunny film, a co-production with Image Entertainment and Bandai Namco Pictures, has hired screenwriter Ellen Shanman.
