The character design look like from the 80s or something, other than that it looks good.

I'd say they really don't, lol.

Looking solid. Hopefully they don't overdo it with the CG during the action scenes, but hand-drawn stuff looks still very good.

This isn't hand drawn. It's so obvious that it isn't. The original movie from 1995 was hand drawn , but SAC wasn't, so obviously this isn't either.

If you really can't wait... 2,400 copies of the Region A English subtitled blu-ray version of Volume 1 have already been made available since mid August of this year.

lolwat? SAC was hand drawn save for the Tachikomas and other mechs and vehicles, and the same goes for Arise, although it did look like CG was used to render characters as well in certain action-heavy scenes.

You're getting into those "drawn on paper" discrepancies again. For clarity, of course no cels or film is used, but they mean what was all of the animation that's not CG.

Most of the character animation in there is hand-drawn, that much is pretty clear. But they seem to use some CG even for characters during the action part with the motorbike. Hopefully they don't crazy with it.

Production I.G. has been pretty successful in blending CG elements with regular animation in the past. I don't think this series of OVAs will be any different. Still really like what I've seen of the animation quality, plus the story appears to be intriguing.

I'm not sure what the release schedule is for the remaining two parts, but hopefully it will wrap up before the end of next year. So far I've managed to refrain from watching the limited Japanese import release of Ghost Pain I picked up from Funi, though every time I watch a new trailer, my resolve tends to weaken. Hopefully, I'll be able to hang on until Funi has released each part with its English dub. Will be interesting to see how the limited Japanese import experiment for Ghost Pain worked for them, and whether they'll do the same for Ghost Whisper and the last two parts.
