While the number of pages is two and a half times(2.5) greater, the number of magazines is only two thirds times(1.66) greater. A difference in ratio of a 134 magazines.

So this also means that each magazine carries many more pages of manga per volume compared to its 1982 counterpart.

Course after reading how they came to this data, I think it is dubious at best. And the numbers should be taken as a very approximate guesstimate and a grain of salt. But even with a more accurate method, I think the results would be similiar.

Yeah, every conbini(convinience store) has a wall of manga, next to a handful of normal magazines and severl porn magazines(of which some are hentai manga). Most restaurants have shelves with manga to borrow while eating/waiting for food and the conbini and other stores always have people, ranging from kids to adults, who are standing around reading manga without buying. Furthermore, at least a third of bookstores around here are manga sections. Also, as it is such a huge market, the competition in manga is fierce, resulting in mega-compilations and much more.
