So the new Catherine, Rin, is a transgender individual it seems. A lot of the scenes in this game seem to be from the first one so it's looking like a Golden/Fes situation.

Wasn't the waitress in the original version already a transgender. I remember one of vincent's friends having the pee taken out of them for sleeping with her.

Regardless of weather or not Rin is trans, the game seems to more heavily imply Rin is younger than the previous interests based on the manner of dress.
The likely point is bringing about the "three faces of Eve" concept, commitment to Catherine, seduction to Katherine, and the seemingly precocious nature of the new Rin.
being a somewhat SMT meta verse idea, a continued relation with Catherine represents Order, Katherine represents chaos, and likely Rin represents some form of compromise as Vincent seemed to be wanting to exit his relation with Catherine unless he was specifically aiming to rekindle that commitment.

Yeah. That's revealed in Katherine's good ending if I'm recalling it right.
@FenixFiesta As for Rin being younger... I don't know. I mean, she does look young but so does Catherine. And it's no like Katherine is exactly a Crone. If she'd be Mother and Catherine Maiden.

I'm going to save up so I can get this on my vita. I loved Catherine! I was hoping we could get more games like this! So all is welcome. Also, if Rin is a trap or whatever, doesn't matter to me! I really can't wait for this game!

It's not confirmed anywhere. People are just jumping to conclusions and getting all up in arms because Vincent is visibly shocked and horrified when he sees Rin's crotch. We are given no other indication that something is off.
And a side note, why does everyone automatically assume that Rin is trans if that even is the case? She could be a hermaphrodite, certainly wouldn't be the first video game character like that. Could also just be a futanari which makes a lot of sense considering what Rin probably is and of course the nature of the game.

Definitely want to buy the new Catherine game on the Vita. This would be amazing to own and play portable.
I hope the English voice actors return, and I'd be very interested in a Catherine anime series, similar to the Persona 4 anime series.

Because that scene is equivalent to a very similar scene in the very early game when there's no indication of what Catherine is. And having an hermaphrodite or futanari would be just way too much even for Atlus. That's Yoko Taro level. The simplest and most logical explanation given the framing of the scene and the way Rin behaves in the trailer would be that she is transgender. May not be the case but makes more sense than hermaphrodite or futanari.

Nowadays gender politics minded ( putting it nicely ) people in western fanbases assume that ( potential ) boy in a dress = transgender for some reason, completely ignoring the fact that boys that just like to dress feminine exist. The possibility that Rin is a trap or a futanari exists. Or Atlus could just be trolling the viewers and Rin could just be female in the end. We won't know until they confirm it. I don't think people should just jump the gun and assume just yet though. I highly doubt they'd put more than one trans character in this game, but if they do that's fine. Catherine is very sexual and Rin could just be an otokonoko fetish character. We'll see.

No?? The simplest most logical explanation would be that she's a cross dresser. And given that this is a Japanese game with anime-ish elements, that's not unlikely in the slightest. Assuming that she's transgender just because she wears a dress and potentially has a penis completely invalidates men who dress up as women but are completely and entirely okay with their gender identity. And it ignores the existence of transvestites who are also entirely different from transgender people. Having a hermaphrodite in a game isn't extreme either. Atlus could do it and no one would have a right to complain because its representation of a sort. She doesn't have to be transgender. Rin could be a cross dresser. Its as logical as her being transgender which is why its been offerred by fans as a possibility. And theres nothing wrong with either of those things, if she turns out to be either. The way you worded it made it seem like the idea that a guy would dress and look feminine is illogical and i REALLY hope thats not what you meant, because thats a narrow-minded way of thinking. But like I said to them, we'll see. Nothing is confirmed.

Given Atlus track record with LGBT+ representation is Persona 3, Persona 4, Persona 5 and Catherine (!!!) I really hope Rin isn't trans.

A lot of socjus people flat out ignore crossdressing, or say any crossdresser is trans. People like to push the trans label on everything they can. People to this day still insist Naoto, Chihiro, and Kino is trans despite all the clear evidence that exists that says they are just crossdressers and do not identify as the opposite sex. You would think people so obsessed with trans people would know the basics of what being transgendered are

Looking foreword to the hentai.
Ren does seem like best girl unless she has another secrete. I never played Catherine but from what I know both Catherines are bad in some way. So maybe Ren will be the best choice to be in a relationship with.
