> anime will have an original development that is not in the game.

Yeah, idk how to feel about that honestly. I hope they keep the music the same when it debuts for Summer. The PV looks fine imo.

The animations look very nice and I like the artstyle.

I'm curious about this "original development", I just hope that they will make a critically good anime out of this.

oh man.... so so excited for this. Animation overall is Ryouma Ebata level (which is uhhhh awesome!) and I'm so glad its gonna have a original anime development, at least knowing that will allow us people looking for a good anime to enjoy it while the others buzz off and complain about the adaptation in their little corner....... someday people..... someday the majority will soon realize.... adaptation quality means absolutely flippin' nothing when it comes to an anime..... actually its better they don't copy and paste, because it means the staff are exercising their right to..... CREATE over walking into a meeting one day and going "uhhh this is episode 5 3 chapters of the manga please" then exiting the meeting and then people go nuts because "Good adaptation means Good anime!!"

Thanks be to flip anime staff are starting more and more to exercise their right to actually CREATE.... so far its been beautiful seeing.

Subpar quality animation, expected nothing less from 8-Bit.

" Tanaka mentions that the early part of the series will closely resemble the original visual novel, but toward the middle of the series it will begin to deviate significantly from the original story."
(PASted from Kazamatsuri)

I feel awful about this. I can understand where KARMA is coming from on the post above me, but these works are loved for a reason. Rewrite's VN is an amazing piece of work and changing it "significantly" with a subpar studio like 8-Bit in charge sounds scary. KyoAni is the only one I've seen "change" a VN and end up with an excellent product. And it's not a "little corner". It's the existing fan base that generally complains when adaptations suck. Anime are usually done to advertise their source material. Little Busters! anime, at least in the West, just pushed people away from wanting to read the VN (Though I loved Refrain's anime). I fear a bad adaptation of this will push people away from the game when it gets released in the West.

Bro, you keep saying "8-Bit 8-Bit" like they are the ones in charge of everything, you completely neglected that its a show produced/funded by Aniplex and Key, also the anime original content will be written by Romeo Tanaka himself, I understand why you are worried, but you shouldn't say that its already a failure because "8-Bit" are animating it.

8-Bit has no control over the episode count/budget/script quality, they just animate and make sure that they are following the schedule that was given to them.

if this turns out to be bad then blame Aniplex, Key and the scriptwriters.

also the animations look very fluid and its very well directed (especially the scene where Kotarou drops the baseball bat, the camerawork there is splendid)

I'll follow this when it comes out... This is the only Key title I know little to nothing about. Was planning on starting this once I finally complete ALL of Clannad... (good luck) and Finally play the Angel Beats VN.

@Kougeru I don't think the LB anime pushed anyone away from anything to be honest. Played the game.. watched LB, LB Refrain, and even LB EX ovas. All in all I think they were well done.. any better would be the game itself..

as long is it isn't 13 episodes then i'm personally fine with it being anime original. this might even give them a chance to make Kagari a good main heroine, something the source failed horribly at doing.

Honestly I'm fine with the anime doing its own thing. It would be impossible for them to do what they did with Clannad and cover all the routes in a single timeline.

I'm fine with "original development" if it means "a way to make the routes structure make sense". Like some people suggested before, a structure like spoiler[Common Route > Kotori > Start of Moon > More a bit of Common Route > Chihaya > More of Moon > etc], or even some crazier structure would be OK.

What I would disappoint me is if they decided to change too much the overall plot. Sure, they could make some really good original plot and I could like that, but netherless I would still miss the VN's content.

So, Rewrite is getting a rewrite...of sorts? Laughing

Well, seeing as I'm not a fan of the VN (due to not having played it), I've no issue. As long as they give me a good story, I'll be happy. Also, I don't find this too surprising...seeing as the fans themselves say that they believe the structure of the game's story makes it hard to tell in an anime.

2 things: first, the animation is actually quite good! I don't know how it could look bland, considering how fluid and bouncy the PV looked. Second, the changes are being supervised by Romeo Tanaka, Rewrite's lead writer, so I wouldn't worry if I were you. And changes ARE necessary: Rewrite's storyline works at the moment because of the "choose your own adventure" aspect of a visual novel, but can you imagine how much of a mess it'd be if they tried to adapt everything the same way it was presented to us in the game? Stuff wouldn't make sense unless you cheaply turn back time whenever you finish a route.

It's similar to Fate's case, where each route covers roughly the same amount of time but the events are so different and so drastic that trying to push them all into a single storyline without changing a bunch of stuff would be bad idea (something that Studio DEEN proved back in 2006). I very much prefer an adaptation that tries to make a show that can stand on its own rather than making a subpar product because not enough risks were taken.

Welcome to the anime community today. You make some excellent points and I completely agree... I would also like to add that 8-Bit work like BONES. So in actuality the only 8-Bit employees working on this would be Tensgo, a few producers and most likely their sakuga animator Ryouma Ebata (even though looking at the pv he may be even more then a animartor. All this animation looks like Ebata's with his freeness of the character movements and extra attention to the movements)

In this community the quality of a studio is judged by their ability to adapt. Look at the comments of the Planetarian announcment. Everybody is delighted because its David Production and they spent 48 episodes for 15 volumes, there is a total lack of respect in this community for the actual animators themselves. All people want is for them to copy and paste, if people see one hint of the staff actually using their right as animators to, well, CREATE, they are instantly tossed in the trash can of "these guys are horrible animators". Its sickening. Its the main reason why Japanese fans absolutely despise us over here, because the overseas community just can't seem to fathom that animators were trained to create stuff, not be a flipping photocopier.

Sorry for my rambling haha, its just fantastic to see that I am not the only one who finds it annoying how a studio is instantly regarded as garbage simply because one of their shows wasn't an exact copy and paste.

I'm also happy to see that someone agrees with me, also you said what I wanted to say about animation studios, Thank you so much.

there is an issue with the anime community regarding the recent news about Rewrite, I've seen a lot of people misunderstanding the news and thinking that "it will be all anime original", I've read the interviews with Romeo Tanaka that were released recently, he said that the anime will have "original development" that wasn't in the game but he also said that he is excited to see the still images from the VN come to life in animation.
Source:http://dengekionline.com/elem/000/001/247/1247248/

and in an interview that was released 3 months ago he said:
"I think it's OK if the setting is a little different from the original, of course it's not OK if we change it beyond recognition, but we are coordinating it so that it doesn't lack consistency"
Source: http://myanimelist.net/forum/?topicid=1482310

Also Tensho said on his twitter "We made it without destroying the world view of the original so rest assured"
https://twitter.com/tensho_tw/status/715932648762380288

ignorance of the fans can put a lot of pressure on the creators, the Rewrite anime won't be fully anime original, they will just coordinate some stuff so the story can fit into anime format, also Romeo Tanaka himself is the one who will write the original parts.

I really wish if everyone could do more research before bashing the anime.....

Note: I absolutely love Ryouma Ebata but I think that the scenes in the PV were animated by Masayuki Nonaka, maybe the scene with Kotarou holding a bat was done by Ebata, I don't really know xD (also sorry for making this long)

Has that also come up with Rewrite? It's funny to think that something that happened earlier this year/late last year is already happening again. I'm referring to ERASED, where it was said that the anime would have the same ending as the manga...which lead to people saying that the anime would have an anime original ending. Confused
